Atos trends report Ascent Look Out focuses on Business Mobility

Paris

Paris: French IT services consultancy Atos unveiled the fifth edition of its independent trends report this week. Ascent Look Out brings together the insights of over 200 contributors from various geographies, business lines and industries across Atos. The report provides an detailed analysis of the emerging trends, business needs and technologies that will be driving innovation in 2014 and beyond.

Focus on Business Mobility

This edition's 'Focus On' section is dedicated to Business Mobility, which explains how solutions can turn context--information about a person's actual current situation such as life moments, location, time and activity --into innovative services.

Employees and consumers now have a direct connection to services in their pocket. At the end of 2012, the world was counting 6.2 billion active mobile subscriptions and 1.1 billion smartphones had been sold. This is expected to rise to 10 billion by 2016 -- that's approximately 1.4 devices per capita.

With such widespread adoption of mobile devices, Atos says organizations cannot afford to ignore mobile as a platform and the opportunities that Business Mobility brings. Business Mobility is about empowerment--it is about empowering consumers, employees, partners, patients, students and citizens in the context of where they are and what they are doing. To achieve this, companies must analyze the context of these hundreds of thousands of individuals in real time and marry this information with cross-channel digital intelligence.

Gilles Grapinet, Senior Executive Vice President Global Functions at Atos said, "The world today is very different to the one we saw just five years ago when we issued the first edition of Ascent Look Out. The economic crisis which started in 2007 is still developing its effects in many countries. Reduction of public deficits and debts is at the highest level in political agendas, while forgotten tensions among geopolitical blocks are re-emerging. New technology in parallel is enabling better informed decision-making while increasing efficiency. This is supported by the digital natives who have come of age and are using technology to exploit the vast, and growing, volumes of data.

"Ascent Look Out aims to raise awareness of the emerging trends, business needs and technologies that will drive innovation and we believe that early adopters of business mobility tools will gain competitive advantage from the many potential opportunities it offers."
