Alan Leaman, MCA

London: The diversity and breadth of specialist expertise of UK consultancy firms is a great strength, the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) has told potential buyers of consulting services.

Clients can benefit from the rich diversity of choice that is available in UK consulting and should take the time to find the consultancy that best fits their needs, the MCA argues in a new report published today.

The UK consulting sector contains a wide variety of world class firms of varying sizes with deep expertise and specialist skills, according to Diversity and choice in management consulting.

The breadth of knowledge, extraordinary skills and dynamism of this sector provide huge benefits to clients and help create growth for the UK economy, the report continues.

Alan Leaman, Chief Executive of the MCA, said: "The diversity of quality specialist consultancies in the UK gives clients a great range of choices. Whether clients work with smaller companies or not, they benefit from the choice this provides."

Stephen Allot, Crown Representative for Small and Medium Enterprises, Cabinet Office said:
"Consultancy is a particularly fertile category for getting value from SMEs with a broad range of highly specialist consultancies who can deliver exceptional value."

Simon Walker, Director General of the Institute of Directors says in his foreword to the report: "These are smaller, perhaps specialist, firms with an extraordinary depth of expertise and skill. The quality of their work for their clients is often world-class."

This report demonstrates the skills and expertise of SME consultancies through a series of case studies, some of them Award winning, in various sectors, including:

  • Aerospace and defence
  • Financial services
  • FMCG
  • ICT
  • Manufacturing
