London: Public services consulting specialist Capita has been selected as an approved supplier for both lots of the UK Government Procurement Services (GPS) Information Management and Learning Services Framework.
The framework is for use by schools, academies, consortia and local authorities to purchase both management information systems and learning services.
After what Capita describes as a rigorous tendering process, it was able to demonstrate that it met the necessary criteria in both the Learning Services lot for its OPENHIVE learning platform and in the Information Management Services lot for its SIMS management information system.
SIMS is the most widely used management information system in UK education. It is accessed every day by more than 22,000 UK schools to record a wealth of learner data that can be analysed to help inform interventions for individual learners and groups. OPENHIVE is a hosted managed learning environment with a focus on assessment that is supported by a wide range of communication and collaboration tools.
Steve Smith from the education business development team at Capita, said, "It is a testament to the quality of the SIMS and OPENHIVE products that we have been selected on to the framework after a thorough evaluation process. The framework will make the procurement of products a lot easier and reduce the time and cost of purchasing; which can only be a good thing for schools and local authorities."
In February, Capita won approval for all four lots of the UK Government Procurement Services G-Cloud Services framework too.
